Performance Learning Aim B

Tuesday 4th February 2014

On Tuesday 4th February 2014, Kiera Smith, Kiara Mackay and I made the decision to carry on with our plan of Performing 'Happy' by Pharrell & 'Highway To Hell' by AC/DC. I used Kiara Mackay's phone to go onto YouTube and look at the tutorials for Happy, so I could start to write the notes down. I managed to write down the introduction for the song. Below are the songs that we are going to perform that I have embedded.

 Wednesday 5th February 2014

On Wednesday 5th February I started to learn the the two songs properly by using the song notes that I had written using the synthesia videos on youtube.

Tuesday 11th February 2014

On Tuesday 11th of february we completed half of the song Happy by Pharrell individually on our seperate instruments / vocals.

Wednesday 12th February 2014

On Wednesday 12th february we were perfecting the first half of the song Happy by Pharrell that we had seperatly learnt on our instruments / vocals. We then continued to learn the second half of the song and to sincronise our instruments / vocals.

------------------ 1 Week Half Term -------------------

Tuesday 25th & Wednesday 26th February 2014

I was absent from my group this week as I was very ill with an IB

Tuesay 4th March 2014

On Tuesday 4th March my group and I were working in the sound proof room and started rehearsing Highway To Hell by ACDC. I have the melody to Highway To Hell rehearsed.

Wednesday 5th March 2014

On Wednesday 5th March my group and I tried to rehearse in A51, but unfortunatly, Demi Bird stopped us from rehearsing as she was blaring club music through the classroom speakers while we were trying to rehearse. Thanks Demi! But we also stayed after school from 3:20 - 6:30 to rehearse our songs Happy and Highway To Hell as we were unable to in school time.

Tuesday 11th March 2014

We performed the song "Happy" By Pharrell!

Review:

I think that all of our rhythms were mostly in time, but i felt that the singing and the piano could of been more in time with each other. Also i feel like kiara's microphone should of been turned up more, or the singing could of been made louder so we could here her clearly projected over the drums.
Also the drums could have been quietened a little bit so that they could have melowed more smoothly into the piano. I also think we all should have been a bit more confident! But apart form that I do think this performance went ok.

Wednesday 12th March 2014

We performed the song "Highway To Hell" By AC / DC!

Review:

I believe this performance went IMMENSELY better than the "Happy" performance as we were all extremely comfortable with learning this song and it was great fun to rehearse this song and it also suited all of our music abilities. This performance went so well that we were asked to perform this very song in ITALY! I don't believe that there is anything we could of done to improve this performance as I believe we all did incredibly well with this song! I am so proud of myself, Kiera Smith & Kiara Mackay!

Tuesday 18th March 2014

On Tuesday 18th March we were told, that in another 4 weeks we will have to re - perform our songs or pick 2 new ones, we decided to stick with highway to hell as we believe we did really well. but we deiced to perform "Let It Go" by Indina Menzel. I started learning the piano intro for this song.

Wednesday 19th March 2014

I was absent on this day.

This are my sessions with Suzi Bowden in preperation for these performances.

Tuesday 25th March 2014

On Wednesday 25th March 2014 me and my group practised the song "Highway To Hell" as we have decided to perform "Highway To Hell" in Italy.

Tuesday 1st April 2014

On Tuesday 1st April 2014 me and my group were solely focused on the Italy performance of "Highway To Hell" so we were just practising that 1 song the entire hour as the Italy performance was just 4 days away.

Wednesday 2nd April 2014

On Wednesday 2nd April me and my group were solely focused on the Italy performance of "Highway To Hell" so we were just practising that 1 song the entire hour as the Italy performance was just 3 days away.

------------------*The Italy Tour & Performance*---------------

Tuesday 22nd April 2014

On Tuesday 22nd April 2014 My group and I started Rehearsing the song "Let It Go" from the film Frozen. Kiara Mackay is progressing hugely in her vocal skills and confidence in rehearsals.
P.S: I believe that my group (Kiera Smith, Kiara Mackay) and I have made huge improvements to our confidence since our Italy performance.

Wednesday 23rd April 2014

On Wednesday 23rd April 2014 My group and I were rehearsing the song "Let It Go" from Frozen when we started to re - evaluate our decision to perform the song "Let it Go" as we have a new member in our group now, her name is Zoey Huggett. she is now apart of our group and will perform with us now.

Tuesday 29th & Wednesday 30th April 2014

On Tuesday 29th & Wednesday 30th April 2014 My group and I were unable to rehearse as much as usual as it was GCSE exam week and the whole of year 10, including ourselves were sitting GCSE and also the noise level had to be lowered. (we had to be quiet) as we were near the hall & gym. However, my group and I did decide to perform the song "Someone Like You" by Adele rather than "Let It Go" from Frozen as we feel it would be better suited to all the band members in the group, especially the new bee, Zoey.

Tuesday 6th May 2014

Absent due to illness.

Wednesday 7th May 2014

Absent due to illness

Thursday 8th May 2014

Suzi's lesson/s went really well I am learning how to write my own songs and write piano music along side the vocals as well.

Wednesday 14th May 2014

On Wednesday 14th May 2014 My group and I performed the song "Someone Like You" by Adele. Kiara Mackay and Zoey Huggett were vocalists, Kiera smith was Drummer, and I was pianist. I believe our performance went really well as the vocalist were loud and clear and the drummer kept a steady, clear and precise drum beat, but I feel our performance could have been improved even more by syncing the vocals and piano more smoothly and being able to play the piano smoothly all the way through the song / performance.

  1. What a fantastic start to your blog!! Keep this up to date each week to evidence your progress. Use this structure.
    Explain in each blog:
    - Warm up exercises you have learnt or completed this week
    - What pieces you worked on this week (repertoire)
    - Whether you rehearsed with somebody else accompanying you or performing with you, and how that went.
    - What feedback you received from others (including your tutor) and how you acted on it
    - Any feedback you gave to other people on their performances
